Activate your Vidhuddha Chakra to release the fear of speaking

Do you feel timid, shy or choked up while addressing meetings or while interacting with seniors or even new people? Do you feel that although there are a lot of things on your mind you wish to say, you keep them bottled up inside and regret later? Do you curb your expression out of fear of annoying people? Do you find yourself repressing your communication because you think you do not have much to say or you fear ridicule from those around you? Do your arguments often end up in frustration or helplessness?

If you have experienced any of the above signs on a regular basis, know that your throat chakra is blocked. When the throat chakra is out of balance, you will feel shy, you may stutter, you find it hard to express yourself. You feel anxious, stressed out and suffer from performance anxiety. You may become forgetful and often remain lost in thoughts. You may also develop a voice that sounds unpleasant. Sometimes you may end up expressing your frustration in hurtful or aggressive language. With a blocked throat chakra, you may suffer from anxiety and be unable to sleep well. You may be prone to hair fall or thyroid and sleep related issues. Your throat will be sensitive and you may end up developing frequent cough and cold and suffer from an overall lack of immunity.

The blue-coloured 16 petal Vishudha chakra is located at the pit of your throat and is your centre for both listening and speaking.

When the Vishudha chakra is open, you are able to communicate brilliantly and convincingly. You are full of joy and confidence and enjoy the exchange of ideas with other people. You are able to convey your feelings with honesty. You are centred in time and aware of things happening around you.

Methods of balancing Vishudha chakra

Pranayama – Practice Ujjai breathing to release feelings of irritation and frustration from the throat and to balance the mind. With Ujjai, you increase the oxygen in the blood, relieve tension and facilitate the free flow of prana in the body and build energy. The slow and rhythmic nature of the Ujjai breath is incredibly helpful to calm nerves.

Mantra chanting- This chakra is ruled by Guru, the planet Jupiter. Chant the mantra “Om Graam Greem Graum Sah Guruve Namah” in multiples of 108 every day.

Wear Yellow Sapphire, Jupiter’s gemstone.

Wear the Jupiter ruled 4 mukhi Rudraksha and the 11 mukhi Rudraksha, which governs the throat chakra.
