Sri Ganesha is the Supreme Brahman that connects us to the Divine Consciousness. He is the first Guru and is invoked at the beginning of all rituals as he aligns us to the grace of the Divine. Gana means a group and Esh stands for Eshwar or God. He is the Lord of all the mortals bound to the world of Samsara. He guides them to Lord Shiva as the highest awareness.
Ganesha, Shiva and Shakti
Ganesha takes birth to unite Shiva and Shakti by bringing the individual mind to the Now moment. This happens only with destruction of lust that separates you (true Self) from the I (ego of the self), and time into past and future. With Ganesha one lives in the mortal body but is detached from it. Eventually the Self in the non-dual state is ready to dissolve into Shiva consciousness which is Eternal.
As the Son of Shiva and Shakti, He is the energy that manifests creation of the Soul with its true nature (Prakriti). While holding the highest awareness of Shiva, He displays all the powers of Shakti. He is the ruler of the Muladhara or the Root Chakra that holds Kundalini Shakti.
Ganesha dwells in the Muladhara, or Root Chakra, that rules over the earth element and holds the Kundalini Shakti, our individual power of transcendence.
His two consorts are Siddhi, the power of accomplishment, and Buddhi, the power of knowledge.
He sits with Laxmi as power to accomplish goals and Saraswati as the power of knowledge.
