Affirmations are positive statements or words that evoke a pleasing emotion or visual. Repeating these statements helps cultivate their relevant behaviors and attitudes in an individual. Often, we have several negative thoughts which we may not even be aware of. These thoughts over time become our beliefs and hinder our ability to grow and evolve.

Further, such thoughts and beliefs can also impact the energy flow in our chakras leading to imbalances. Chakras are the dominant energy centers in our body often represented as spinning circular discs of energy. Affirmations are a wonderful way to create internal change as well as restore balance to our chakras.

Most people have negative beliefs about themselves. These may be things like ‘I never do anything right’ or ‘I am not good enough’. Such constant negative thoughts can impact our self-esteem and confidence. Further, they come in the way of growth and spiritual evolvement.

Repeating positive affirmations help break the chain of these negative thoughts and replace them with positive beliefs. Over time, our mindset shifts from feelings of not worthy to worthy as they help rewire our brains.

A major advantage of using affirmations is that they are extremely easy for everyone. Pick a word or statement that makes you feel good or reflects the qualities you want in your life. Repeat this constantly to yourself while feeling the positive emotions they evoke. You can even visualize an image representing the statement in your mind.

Combining thoughts and emotions with the words can help have a profound impact on your subconscious thus leading to faster and more effective change. Also, positive words and statements have a higher vibration that help open and balance the chakras.

Affirmations help change our mindset and change our beliefs. This can also help improve our confidence and self-esteem. There is no specific affirmation or technique that needs to be followed by everyone. Instead, you can choose the technique that works best for you from the below examples.

  • Note down your affirmations in a journal and repeat them three to five times a day. Writing helps engage your conscious mind and may be more effective for some people.
  • Repeat them to yourself as soon as you wake up or just before going to bed. The subconscious mind is most receptive at these times.
  • Speak the affirmations out loud to yourself while looking in a mirror.
  • Schedule a particular time to repeat your affirmations daily so as to avoid skipping any days.
  • Repeat a positive affirmation three times for every negative thought you have in the day.

Remember, some behaviors may be buried deep down in the subconscious and may take time to change. Be patient with yourself and know that it may take time but with repeated practice, change will occur.

Just like when you begin any new activity, practice is important. The same is true for affirmations. Create a routine where you practice your affirmations daily for five minutes at least. Do this twice a day.

The recommended times are early morning and before bedtime but you can choose any time in the day that suits you best. Pick an affirmation from the list above that resonates with you or create your own.

Practice these affirmations during your meditation, through the day, or even during times of stress. When practicing, be sure to feel the emotions attached to the words. You can also listen to a recording of the affirmations. 

Keep in mind that change may be slow at first. Don’t be too hard on yourself or give up. Instead, stick with your practice and be positive. Have faith in yourself and the universal energy.
